Glowcation 2026: Why Everyone’s Going to Korea for K-Beauty
What do you usually do on holiday?
Try new restaurants, visit famous landmarks, take way too many photos, and squeeze in a little shopping?
Well, there’s a new kind of travel trend emerging in 2026 — and as a K-Beauty lover, this one definitely caught my attention.
It’s called a Glowcation.
Glow + Vacation = Glowcation
It’s a holiday where beauty, skincare, wellness and self-care become part of the travel experience — and sometimes, the whole reason for the trip.
Instead of simply booking a massage because you happen to have a free afternoon, travellers are increasingly planning beauty and wellness experiences into their itinerary.
Think skincare consultations, beauty treatments, discovering local products, wellness experiences and, of course, a little beauty shopping along the way.
And when it comes to beauty travel, one destination has an obvious advantage.
South Korea. 🇰🇷
Why Korea?
For years, international visitors have returned from Korea with suitcases filled with sheet masks, serums, sunscreens and the latest Olive Young finds.
But K-Beauty tourism is becoming about much more than shopping.
In Seoul, you can explore Korean skincare, discover new beauty brands, try personalised beauty experiences, get a personal colour analysis, experiment with Korean makeup styles and experience the beauty culture behind the products.
In other words, travellers aren’t just buying K-Beauty anymore.
They’re experiencing it.
From products to experiences
This is probably what I find most interesting about the Glowcation trend.
When we hear “K-Beauty”, most of us immediately think of products — toners, ampoules, creams, masks and serums.
But imagine travelling to Korea and asking:
What are Korean women actually using right now?
Which new brands haven’t made it to Australia yet?
What would suit my own skin?
Suddenly, skincare becomes part of the travel experience itself.
And honestly, that sounds like a pretty fun way to spend a day in Seoul.
A Glowcation from Australia to Korea
Living in Australia makes this trend even more interesting to me.
There are so many Korean beauty products we can buy here now, but anyone who loves K-Beauty knows the feeling of discovering something in Korea that hasn’t quite reached Australia yet.
So on my next trip to Korea, I think I might dedicate an entire day to my own mini Glowcation.
A slow morning.
A little K-Beauty hunting.
Trying something new.
Good Korean food.
And absolutely no rushing around trying to tick ten tourist attractions off a list.
That sounds like a holiday to me.
Come home glowing ✨
Usually when someone returns from a holiday, we ask:
“Did you have a good trip?”
Maybe the Glowcation version will be:
“Wait… why does your skin look so good?”
😂
K-Beauty is no longer simply about Korean products being exported around the world.
It’s becoming part of the reason people want to experience Korea itself.
And I have a feeling Glowcation is a word we’re going to hear a lot more often.
Would you plan a beauty day on your next trip to Korea?
I definitely would. 💕
